Public Housing

Madisonville Housing Authority owns and maintains 186 apartments at five different complexes within the City of Madisonville.  The complexes include Rosewald ,Carver Court , Pride , and Adrian Circle Apartments.  One, two and three bedroom units are available, but there is a waiting list for all bedroom sizes.

Rent is based on your household income.  As a general rule, rent in Public Housing will not exceed 1/3 of you monthly gross income.  A security deposit is required before moving into an apartment.

To Qualify for Public Housing you must be determined low-income as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, pass a criminal background check, not owe any landlord money, and have a satisfactory rental history.

To Apply for Public Housing the following application must be completed and submitted to the MHA office at 211 Pride Avenue with the additional required documentation. Applications received without the additional information will only be held for two business days.

Section 8 Housing




Section 8 – Housing Choice Voucher

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) affords an eligible family to rent a residence within Hopkins County from a private landlord.  There are requirements that include, but are not limited to, unit passing an inspection, appropriate size of rental property, amount of rent being charged, and agreement of property owner.

To Qualify for Section 8 you must be determined low-income as defined by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, pass a criminal background check, not owe any landlord money, and have a satisfactory rental history.

Documents Required To Apply

  • Social Security Card for everyone in the household
  • Proof of Income (check stubs, Social Security Administration Letter, etc.)
  • Picture ID for adults
  • All adults must sign the application
